If you purchase new electric vehicle (EV) or a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) you may qualify for a clean vehicle tax credit.
To Qualify:
Your modified adjusted gross income (AGI) may not exceed:
- $300,000 for married couples filing jointly or a surviving spouse
- $225,000 for heads of households
- $150,000 for all other filers
In addition, the eligible vehicle's manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) can't exceed:
- $80,000 for vans, sport utility vehicles and pickup trucks
- $55,000 for other vehicles

MA STATE REBATE
UP TO $6,000
Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources offers rebates for qualified new Electric Vehicles. Through the (MOR-EV) Program the initial rebate amount is $3,500. MOR-EV+ adds an additional rebate of $1,500 for income qualifying MA residents. and up to $1,000 for an ICE vehicle trade-in.
- The new vehicle must be on the eligible vehicle list.
- The Total MSRP must be $55.000 or less.
- No income limits
Option 1: Receive a rebate at participating dealerships when you purchase or lease.
Option 2: apply online for this rebate post purchase or lease within 90 days.

If you buy a qualified pre owned electric vehicle (EV) or plug in hybrid from a licensed dealer for $25,000 or less, you may be eligible for a pre-owned clean vehicle tax credit. The credit equals 30% of the sale price up to a maximum credit of $4,000.
To Qualify You Must:
- Not be the original owner
- Not be claimed as a dependent on another person's tax return
- Not have claimed another used clean vehicle credit in the 3 years before the purchase date
In addition, your modified adjusted gross income (AGI) may not exceed:

Electric vehicles can charge at home using a Level 1 or Level 2 Charging setup. If you're on the road, you can visit a growing network of Fast-Charging DC Stations to charge up while you're on the go.
The cost of electricity will depend on your location and what your electricity normally costs. Typically, most electric vehicles charge at a rate of $0.15 per kilowatt-hour.
